Ian’s compositions range from the humorous to the ethereal and from the sight readable to the definitely un-sightreadable, often employing an array of extended techniques which he manages to combine in a uniquely accessible manner. His growing list of publications such as 'Zoom Tube', 'Orange Dawn', ‘The Great Train Race’ and ‘Hypnosis’ are establishing themselves as some of the most exciting repertoire of today and are being embraced by leading performers, teachers, colleges & students alike.

This year Ian has been invited as one of the international guest soloists to perform in the NFA’s 2001 International Flute Convention, Dallas, and, along with Clare Southworth & Jaime Martin will be teaching at Just Flutes’ Woldingham International Summer School.

A prize-winning student, Ian studied with Simon Hunt, Averil Williams and Kate Lukas of the Guildhall School of Music, London. He concurrently studied Mathematics at Imperial College, London graduating with Honours. Ian was invited to join the Guildhall professorial flute staff in 2000.

Ian works extensively with musician/composer Simon Painter writing, producing & performing music for film & television under the name of Diva Music with numerous recordings between them and applications from Microsoft to Oprah Winfrey!
