Emilio Galante was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1956. At the Bologna University, he studied composition, and flute with Giorgio Zagnoni, and in 1979 received his final Conservatory Diplom in flute. Galante also studied Philosophy at the Bologna University where he took a degree delivering a disseration on Musical Aesthetics. In 1982, he got the Masterclass Diplom at the Musical Academy in Munich, Germany, where he studied with Walter Therer.

Galante has been a soloist as well as playing in chamber ensembles in Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Russia, and Santo Domingo. He has also be soloist in La Scala (Milano), La Fenice (Venice), and Salburger Residenz. He has freelanced as first flute in various Italian and German orchestras such as OSER, and Pomeriggi Musicali.

Galante has also recorded for various labels and national radio broadcasting. For the Italian label Scatola Sonora, in 1993 he recorded "Linea d'Ombra" (Shadow Line), a cd for solo flute and live electornics with his own compositions, and in 1996, "Doppio Sogno" (Double Dream), a work in duo with nine different musicians, coming from classical and jazz. In 1994, the Japanese flute ensemble Piacere commissioned and played his piece "I Monti Pallidi", now published by Falls House Press. Other music is published by Sonzogno.

Emiliio Galante performs now mostly as a soloist, and in a woodwind quintet, Kamera Quintet. He also teaches at the Conservatorio Piacenza. In addition to music. he enjoys tennis, motorcycles (an old Honda 500), skiing, and reading contemporary American novels.
