Matej Zupan |

| Flutist Matej Zupan, born 1970, is originally from Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia-Europe, and completed his regular and post-graduate study at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Professor Fedja Rupel. He completed his advance studies in Florence with Mario Ancillotti as well as masterclasses with Trevor Wye, Michel Debost, Peter-Lukas Graf, and James Galway.
Zupan has received several first prizes at national contests and performs as the first flutist-soloist in the international orchestra Academia Ars Musicae. He is also a member of the Viva youth orchestra from Zagorje. He is founder of the wind quintet Ariart and the flute quartet FOReM. He taught at the music schools in Damzale and Zagorje for nine years, and also at the Music Conservatory in Pordenone/Italy., for two years. |

| As a soloist and member of various chamber music ensembles, he has performed with several orchestras on tours in Europe and in the US. He has also performed at NFA in Phoenix-1998 and at European Flute Festival in Frankfurt-1999. He has recorded his work with RTV Slovenija, RAI and ÖRF. So far he has recorded two own CDs and one with WWQ Ariart. Since 1993 he has tought, currently as an Associate Professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana has full time job as the Principal Flutist of the Slovenian National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Ljubljana. | ![]() |
