SCHEDULE OF EVENTS*

Rhodes College will be hosting the 1999 Flute Festival Mid-South on March 19 and 20. The festival will offer various activities of interest to flutists of all ages and levels, including students, amateurs, and professionals. Participants who plan to play in the flute choirs are asked to bring a folding stand to ALL rehearsals. All activities will be held on campus.

FESTIVAL COMPETITIONS

TheMid South Flute Society is sponsoring three competitions to select outstanding flutists to perform at the Fifth Annual Flute Festival Mid South.

Young Artist Competition for flutists 18-30 years of age

 

High School Masterclass Competition for students grades 9-12

 

College Masterclass Competition, for full time undergraduate students.

 

 

 

RULES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

The taped audition must be recorded on a new, high quality cassette tape on one side only. Tapes must be unedited. The tape may include studio as well as concert performances as long as no editing has occurred. The recording device may be stopped between movements in multi-movement works. Submissions of tapes found to have been edited will result in the applicant's disqualification. If you use noise reduction processing, use only Dolby B. There must be NO IDENTIFICATION on the tape or box; NO SPEAKING may be recorded. The applicant's name, address, and competition entered must appear ONLY on the outer package. Tapes will be coded and sent to the approprate judging committee with only the code number identification. Tapes become the property of the FFMS and will NOT be returned.
