An advocate for the use of beta blockers for performance anxiety, under the direction of a physician, McClain was recently used as the lead-in for an article on such:

NY Times: page 1, 2, 3 (pdf)

International Herald Tribune (pdf)

In 1995, McClain established this award winning Flute Connection, featuring many international flutists and composers. The Flute Connection was the meeting place for UK/Lebanese flutist Wissam Boustany and US composer Carl Witt, leading to their collaboration on a world premiere composition, at the 1999 NFA Convention in Atlanta.
